CPR and basic Airway management and suctioning
- Oscillatory Chest Physiotherapy Applications

- Basic Spirometry

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS PREFERRED:
- Esophageal balloon manometry
- Ventilator waveform interpretation skills
- Application of inhaled Nitric Oxide gas and pulmonary vasodilator medications
- Pediatric and Neonatal critical care experience and skills
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED :
Respiratory Therapist I:
- Graduate from an AMA approved program by the National Board of Respiratory Care in Respiratory Therapy is required. AAS or AS is required. (Existing staff in this role that do not meet this requirement are considered grandfathered into the new requirements and are therefore exempt)
- Two years of neonatal and pediatric or adult critical care experience
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:
Greater than 2 years of neonatal, pediatric and/or adult critical care experience
Respiratory Therapist II:
- Graduate from an AMA approved program by the National Board of Respiratory Care in Respiratory Therapy is required. AAS or AS is required.
- Current Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential required
- AHA BLS, ACLS certifications required
- Minimum of one year clinical experience in acute care setting.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:
- One year critical care including ventilator management
- PALS certification
LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION OR REGISTRATION REQUIRED:
- Current Florida State License as a Certified Respiratory Therapist for Respiratory Therapist I.
- Current Florida State License as a Registered Respiratory Therapist for Respiratory Therapist II.
- Current Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential from the NBRC
REQUIRED COMPETENCIES
Successful completion of department-specific orientation program within 90 days of employment
