Job summary

Collingswood Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center in Rockville, MD is seeking a Respiratory Therapist to provide skilled assessment, treatment, and education for residents with complex pulmonary needs. This PRN position supports patient care across the daily schedule, with all-inclusive pay.

The ideal candidate is an RRT with current licensure and 3+ years of experience, including ventilator management and tracheostomy care in SNF or hospital settings.

Qualifications

• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential from NBRC required.
• Current state licensure required.
• Minimum of 3 years of respiratory therapy experience preferred.
• Experience with tracheostomy care and ventilator management in SNF/Hospital settings.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with residents, families and clinical teams.

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive chest assessments and respiratory examinations for a diverse resident population.
• Consult with physicians and inter-disciplinary team to develop and modify treatment plans.
• Perform diagnostic testing including lung capacity and blood gas evaluation.
• Administer respiratory therapies including oxygen, aerosols and chest physiotherapy.
• Manage ventilator-dependent residents and initiate ventilation when necessary.
• Monitor residents' respiratory status and ensure equipment functions properly.
• Educate residents and families on treatments, equipment use and medications.
• Maintain accurate documentation of treatments and progress.

Guided by our core values of Passion, Respect, and Excellence, the Respiratory Therapist provides skilled assessment, treatment, and education to residents requiring respiratory support across the care continuum.

Responsibilities for Respiratory Therapist:

• Perform comprehensive chest assessments and respiratory examinations for a diverse resident population.

• Consult with physicians and interdisciplinary team members to develop, evaluate, and modify individualized treatment plans.

• Perform diagnostic testing, including lung capacity measurements and evaluation of blood gas levels.

• Administer respiratory therapies, including oxygen therapy, aerosol medications, and chest physiotherapy.

• Manage and monitor ventilator-dependent residents, including initiation of ventilator support when necessary.

• Conduct regular monitoring of residents’ respiratory status and ensure proper functioning of respiratory equipment.

• Educate residents and families on respiratory treatments, equipment use, and medication administration.

• Maintain accurate documentation of treatments, assessments, and resident progress in accordance with clinical standards.

Qualifications for Respiratory Therapist:

• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential from the National Board for Respiratory Care required.

• Current state licensure required.

• Minimum of 3 years of respiratory therapy experience preferred.

• Experience with tracheostomy care and ventilator management in a skilled nursing facility, LTACH, or hospital setting required.

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to effectively engage residents, families, and clinical teams.
