Job summary

RegalCare at Courtyard Medford is seeking a skilled Respiratory Therapist to join our interdisciplinary care team. You will assess patients' respiratory status, develop and administer therapies, manage ventilation support, monitor outcomes, and educate patients and staff.

Collaboration with nursing, medical, and rehabilitation teams is essential. The ideal candidate has 1–2 years of experience in RT within acute, long-term, or rehab settings, with licensure and BLS; ACLS/PALS are preferred.

Qualifications

• Must have an Associate or Bachelor in Respiratory Therapy.
• Current state license/registration to practice as a Respiratory Therapist.
• BLS certification required; ACLS/PALS preferred.
• Minimum 1–2 years of RT experience in acute care/long-term care/rehabilitation.
• Proficiency with mechanical ventilation and related equipment.
• Strong communication, teamwork and critical thinking skills.

Responsibilities

• Conduct respiratory assessments (lung volumes, ABGs, spirometry).
• Develop individualized respiratory care plans with physicians and medical team.
• Administer respiratory therapies (oxygen, aerosol, bronchial hygiene, chest physiotherapy).
• Monitor and adjust patient responses to therapy and therapy duration.
• Operate and troubleshoot RT equipment (ventilators, CPAP/BiPAP, nebulizers).
• Respond to respiratory emergencies and assist in critical care interventions.
• Document interventions and patient progress in EHRs.
• Educate patients, families, and staff on disease management and device use.
• Participate in rounds, discharge planning, and care conferences.
• Ensure regulatory, safety and infection control compliance.
• Assist with staff training and quality improvement initiatives.

Position Summary

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Respiratory Therapist to join our interdisciplinary care team. In this role, you will assess patients’ respiratory status, develop and administer therapeutic interventions, manage ventilator and noninvasive support, monitor outcomes, and educate patients and staff. The ideal candidate will be proactive, detail-oriented, and able to collaborate closely with nursing, medical, and rehabilitation staff.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct respiratory assessments, including measurement of lung volumes, ABGs, spirometry, and other pulmonary function tests
• Develop individualized respiratory care plans in consultation with physicians and medical team
• Administer respiratory therapies, including oxygen therapy, aerosol treatments, bronchial hygiene, chest physiotherapy, airway suctioning, and mechanical ventilation support
• Monitor and evaluate patient response to therapy; adjust care plans as needed
• Operate, calibrate, maintain, and troubleshoot respiratory therapy equipment (ventilators, CPAP/BiPAP, nebulizers, etc.)
• Respond to respiratory emergencies (e.g. acute respiratory distress) and assist in critical care interventions
• Document all respiratory care interventions, patient responses, and progress in electronic health records
• Provide education to patients, families, and staff on respiratory disease management, use of home ventilators, inhaler techniques, and breathing exercises
• Participate in interdisciplinary care conferences, rounds, and discharge planning
• Ensure compliance with regulatory, safety, and infection control guidelines
• Assist with staff training, competency assessments, and quality improvement initiatives

Requirements & Qualifications

• Associate’s degree or bachelor’s degree in Respiratory Therapy or equivalent
• Current state license / registration to practice as a Respiratory Therapist
• Credentialing such as CRT, RRT, or equivalent as required by state or facility
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required; ACLS / PALS preferred
• Minimum 1–2 years of respiratory therapy experience in an acute care, long-term care, or rehabilitation setting (experience with ventilator care preferred)
• Proficiency with mechanical ventilation, non-invasive ventilation, pulmonary diagnostics, and respiratory equipment
• Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and teamwork skills
• Ability to function under pressure, prioritize tasks, and adapt to changing clinical demands
