Job summary

Riverside Shore Memorial Hospital in Gloucester, VA is seeking a Respiratory Care Practitioner to plan, execute, and evaluate respiratory care for assigned patients. You will work under leadership to provide services per RHS standards and safety goals.

The role requires NBRC RCP license, CRT, CPR/BLS, and ACLS training within 1 year. Education includes at least a high school diploma and an associates/ bachelors in respiratory therapy; 1 year experience preferred. Sign-on bonus available.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required
• Associates Degree in Respiratory Therapy or related field required
• Bachelors Degree in Respiratory Therapy or related field preferred
• 1 year respiratory therapist experience preferred
• NBRC RCP license required upon hire
• CRT certification required upon hire
• CPR/BLS certification required upon hire
• ACLS provider within 1 year required

Responsibilities

• Assess, diagnose, implement, and evaluate the respiratory care plan for assigned patients.
• Complete documentation and ensure orders are current or discontinued.
• Participate in meetings, projects and in-services to improve Respiratory Care Services.
• Apply infection control techniques in performance of duties.
• Collaborate with physicians and nurses to create treatment plans and evaluate progress.

The Respiratory Care Practitioner utilizes current evidenced based Respiratory Care Practice to care for each patient based on the physiological, psychosocial and cultural diversity. Works under the direction of the leadership team to provided respiratory services associated with and in accordance with standards of excellence established by Riverside Health System and facility goals and strategic plans. Responsible for assuring safe practices as referenced in the National Patient Safety Goals, and supports best practices as recommended by the American Association of Respiratory Care.What you will doResponsible for assessing, diagnosing, implementing, and evaluating the treatment and procedures that contribute to the Respiratory Care Plan.Completes all documentation and assures all orders are current, completed or discontinued.Participates and assists in meetings, projects and in-services relative to improvement of RHS Respiratory Care Services.Utilizes proper infection control techniques in performance of duties and in accordance with departmental procedures.Works with physicians and nurses to create treatment plans.
