Job summary

Hillcrest HealthCare System in Cushing, OK is seeking a Night Shift Respiratory Therapist to join our hospital team on a full-time basis. The role involves providing respiratory care, administering therapies, monitoring patients, and responding to emergencies across the facility.

The ideal candidate has an Associate Degree in Respiratory Care with Oklahoma CRT and RRT credentials on hire, plus BLS, ACLS, and NRP training within defined timeframes. Weekend and holiday coverage is required.

Qualifications

• Associated Degree in Respiratory Care required.
• 1 year of experience minimum preferred.
• Oklahoma CRT license required on hire; RRT license required for Registered Respiratory Therapist on hire.
• BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer into the role.
• ACLS within 30 days of hire; NRP within 60 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Responds to emergencies throughout the hospital.
• Advises on arterial blood gas results.
• Assists in the transport of mechanically ventilated patients.
• Sets up and operates respiratory equipment for diagnosis and treatment.
• Administers respiratory therapies and medications as prescribed.
• May assume a Charge role in the absence of the Respiratory Supervisor.
• Participates in departmental in-service/education programs.

Get to Know Your Team:

• Hillcrest Hospital Cushing is a 99-bed community-owned facility offering 24-hour emergency services, cardiology, general surgery, orthopedics, diagnostic imaging, withdrawal stabilization, wound care and urology.
• The Registered Respiratory Therapist and Certified Respiratory Therapy Technician are capable of setting up and operating various types of equipment to be utilized in the diagnosis and treatment of respiratory disease and or illness.
• The therapist provides administration of respiratory specific gases and medications, and modes of therapy for the respiratory compromised patient.
• Responds to emergencies throughout the hospital.
• Advises on arterial blood gas results.
• Assists in the transport of mechanically ventilated patients.
• May assist in the ordering of department supplies.
• Takes and records verbal and telephone orders from physicians as necessary.
• Acts as a resource person to nurses, physicians, residents, interns, respiratory staff, students and other hospital staff in regard to initiation and operation of all respiratory procedures.
• May assume a Charge role in the absence of the Respiratory Supervisor.
• Takes an active part in attending departmental in-service/education programs.
• Participates in Quality Assurance programs, and participates in department and/or HHC committees.
• Work schedule includes working alternate weekends and holidays.
• Performs all other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

• Associated Degree in Respiratory Care
• A minimum of 1 year of experience
• Oklahoma CRT license (upon hire)
• RRT license for Registered Respiratory Therapist ONLY (upon hire)
• BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer into the role and prior to providing direct patient care.
• ACLS (within 30 days of hire)
• NRP (within 60 days of hire)
