Job summary

Pediatric Home Service in Austin, TX is seeking a Respiratory Therapist to support pediatric patients at home, conducting assessments and coordinating care with a multidisciplinary team.

You will educate families, ensure documentation, and participate in care conferences while maintaining a patient-centered approach to pediatric home health services.

Qualifications

• CRT NBRC certification
• Current BLS certification
• 1–2 years pediatric experience as a Respiratory Therapist

Responsibilities

• Performs initial patient assessments including physical, functional, social and environmental needs.
• Performs initial equipment setup and patient/family education.
• Develops patient-specific plans of care with goals and interventions.
• Reviews and revises care plans and follows them per policy.
• Ensures accurate documentation within required time frames.
• Participates in care conferences and collaborates with the care team.
• Handles day-to-day troubleshooting and on-call activities.
• Attends department and staff meetings as necessary.
• Schedules patient visits per policy.

• Position: Respiratory Therapist
• Location: Austin, Texas
• Hours: Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm. Weekends/On-call: as determined by leadership
• Requirements: holds the following license; LRT, BLS

THE POSITION

• Uses analytical ability to perform initial patient assessments including physical, functional, social and environmental resource requirements and needs. Ensures communication and coordination of services /care among all clinical services.
• Performs initial equipment set-up and patient/family/caregiver education.
• Develops patient specific plans of care based on initial assessments to include problems, goals and interventions.
• Reviews and revises care plans on an ongoing basis and ensure that all patients are followed according to that plan per PHS policy.
• Ensures that all required documentation is completed accurately and within the time frames set forth in PHS policy.
• Participates in care conferences and collaborates with all care team members internally and externally.
• Participates in day to day trouble shooting. Performs all on-call activities, analyze problems, formulates solutions, and notifies manager on-call as needed.
• Attend department and staff meetings as necessary.
• Schedule all patient visits per PHS follow-up policy.

THE QUALIFICATIONS

• Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) by The National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC)
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
• One to two years of pediatric experience as a Respiratory Therapist
