Qualifications

Current BLS required; ACLS/PALS/NRP may be required within 6 months.

Responsibilities

Perform respiratory therapy assessments and administer treatments for acute and chronic respiratory illness.
Set up, monitor, and adjust mechanical ventilation and oxygen support systems; notify physicians of changes.
Maintain secure airways and perform suctioning as needed.
Evaluate and distribute diagnostic test results to physicians and care teams.
Educate patients on procedures and answer clinical questions.
Maintain patient charts and billing documentation.
Train and cross-train clinical staff and allied health professionals.
Maintain competency on all procedures and equipment.
Clean, sterilize, and troubleshoot equipment.

Responsibilities

* Perform respiratory therapy assessments and administer treatments for acute and chronic respiratory illness
* Set up, monitor, and adjust mechanical ventilation and oxygen support systems; promptly notify physicians of abnormal changes
* Maintain secure airways and perform suctioning as needed
* Evaluate and distribute diagnostic test results to physicians and care teams
* Educate patients on procedures and respond to clinical questions
* Maintain patient charts, diagnosis codes, and billing documentation
* Train and cross-train clinical staff and allied health professionals
* Maintain competency on all current and new procedures and equipment
* Clean, sterilize, and troubleshoot equipment as needed

Qualifications

Education:

* Minimum: Associate's degree in Respiratory Therapy
* Preferred: Bachelor's degree in Respiratory Therapy

Experience:

* Minimum 1 year of critical care and pediatric experience required
* Registry-eligible therapists must have 2 years of critical care experience
* Experience in the Alaska Tribal Health System preferred
* Pediatric and/or neonatal experience preferred

Certifications:

* Must be registered or registry-eligible by the National Board of Respiratory Care (registry required within 1 year of hire)
* Current BLS required
* ACLS preferred at hire; required within 6 months
* PALS preferred at hire; required within 6 months
* NRP preferred at hire; required within 6 months
* RRT credential preferred
