Job summary

UAB Medicine is seeking a Respiratory Therapist for the Night shift in Birmingham, AL. The role involves conducting prescribed respiratory therapies and following care plans under supervision.

Responsibilities include documenting progress, monitoring responses, patient education, and discharge planning. A High School equivalency with experience or an Associate's/Technical degree is required, with BLS certification within 1 month of hire.

Qualifications

• High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative relevant experience or an Associate's degree/Technical degree in a relevant field, or 4 years of related experience.
• Licensure / Certification / Registration: BLS Provider obtained within 1 month of hire date.

Responsibilities

• Conduct medically prescribed respiratory therapy under the supervision of a respiratory therapist.
• Implement an established treatment plan using appropriate modalities. Document findings of patient progress. Seek consultation as necessary.
• Monitor patient's response to treatment plan. Communicate patient progress and possible goal revisions to respiratory therapist.
• Educate the patient and family/caregiver about patient deficits. Provide discharge planning assistance and information regarding adaptive equipment and community support programs.
• May oversee the care provided according to established regulations and practice standards.

The Respiratory Therapy team supports hospital-wide patient care, managing conditions like asthma and respiratory distress. This team plays a vital role in improving patient outcomes.

What You Will Do

Conduct medically prescribed respiratory therapy under the supervision of a respiratory therapist.

What You Will Need

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.

Minimum Requirements

• High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative relevant experience OR Associate's degree/Technical degree in a relevant field OR 4 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
