Job summary

St. Mary's Medical Center in West Palm Beach, FL is seeking a Respiratory Student Extern to support respiratory care services. The role is per diem with rotating shifts and assists Respiratory Therapists while maintaining equipment.

Candidates actively enrolled in an accredited Respiratory Therapy program, with a high school diploma, and BLS/CPR certification preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Actively enrolled in an accredited Respiratory Therapy Program.
• Preferred: 2nd year Respiratory Therapy student with previous healthcare experience.

Responsibilities

• Assist in assembly, transport, disinfection, calibration and troubleshooting of respiratory equipment.
• Support Respiratory Therapists with clinical procedures and tasks as directed.

Responsible for performing multiple duties that require experience in the assembly, transport, disinfection, calibration and troubleshooting of respiratory related equipment. The Respiratory Student Extern works under the direction of a Respiratory Therapist. The extern is responsible for maintaining an appropriate level of equipment in the various work areas and assisting Respiratory Therapists with various procedures and tasks as directed.

Qualifications

Education:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Actively enrolled in an accredited Respiratory Therapy Program
• Preferred: 2nd year Respiratory Therapy student with previous healthcare experience

Experience:

• Previous experience with assembly and cleaning or respiratory equipment

License:

• NA

Certifications:

• BLS/CPR (AMERICAN HEART ASSN)
• ACLS & PALS prior to graduation
