Job summary

St. Marys Medical Center is seeking a Respiratory Student Extern to rotate shifts as part of the patient care support team.

You will assist with assembling, transporting, disinfecting, calibrating, and troubleshooting respiratory equipment under the supervision of a Respiratory Therapist. The role requires enrollment in an accredited Respiratory Therapy program and prior experience with respiratory equipment cleaning or assembly, along with BLS/CPR certification.

Qualifications

• Education: high school diploma or equivalent and active enrollment in an accredited Respiratory Therapy program.
• Experience: prior assembly and cleaning of respiratory equipment.
• Licenses/certifications: BLS/CPR and ACLS/PALS preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assemble, transport, disinfect, calibrate and troubleshoot respiratory equipment.
• Assist Respiratory Therapists with procedures and tasks as directed.

Responsible for performing multiple duties that require experience in the assembly, transport, disinfection, calibration and troubleshooting of respiratory related equipment. The Respiratory Student Extern works under the direction of a Respiratory Therapist. The extern is responsible for maintaining an appropriate level of equipment in the various work areas and assisting Respiratory Therapists with various procedures and tasks as directed.

Qualifications

Education:
High school diploma or equivalent
Actively enrolled in an accredited Respiratory Therapy Program
Preferred: 2nd year Respiratory Therapy student with previous healthcare experience

Experience:
Previous experience with assembly and cleaning or respiratory equipment

License:
NA

Certifications:
BLS/CPR (AMERICAN HEART ASSN)
ACLS & PALS prior to graduation
