Qualifications

• Associate degree from a CoARC approved program required.
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) required.
• Active Illinois Respiratory Care Practitioner license at start date required.
• BLS, ACLS, PALS required prior to start dates.
• Out-of-state applicants must apply for IL license.

Responsibilities

• Assess cardiopulmonary status through clinical observation and monitoring.
• Administer bronchial hygiene and therapeutic interventions.
• Adjust therapy based on patient assessment and protocols.
• Assess patients before, during and after medications or procedures.
• Provide invasive and non-invasive ventilator management.
• Perform airway management including artificial airway procedures.
• Carry out specialized procedures and transports as needed.
• Conduct internal patient transports requiring respiratory support.
• Collect and process blood gas samples; perform CPR.
• Participate in Rapid Response Team activities and collaborate with the care team.
• Document care thoroughly and educate patients/families.
• Precept students and new staff; support quality improvement initiatives.
• Engage in clinical research and maintain competencies.
