Job summary

Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston, ME is seeking a Trainee Respiratory Therapist for a per diem role. The trainee will perform respiratory therapies and pulmonary diagnostic procedures under supervision, with focus on learning assessment, planning, implementation and documentation of patient care.

The position supports a developing clinician pathway, requires enrollment in a CoARC accredited program, a Maine trainee license, and BLS certification, with compensation around $22.26 per hour

Qualifications

Overview

Central Maine Healthcare (CMH), a member of Prime Healthcare Foundation, is an integrated healthcare delivery system serving approximately 400,000 residents across central, western, and midcoast Maine through a network of more than 40 primary and specialty care locations. Responsibilities

Under the direction and authorization of the medical director and respiratory/cardiopulmonary director/supervisor, the Trainee Respiratory Therapist is responsible for performing respiratory therapeutic and pulmonary diagnostic procedures as ordered by the ordering provider. Emphasis will be toward the assessment, planning, implementation and documentation of care, with consideration of age and population specific needs and requirements of the patient. The Trainee Respiratory Therapist works under the direction of a registered or certified therapist. The competencies listed in sections I, II, and III will be learned as the trainee’s knowledge and skill level increases.

Qualifications

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING

  • State of Maine Respiratory Care Trainee license upon hire and maintain current.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certified from the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC) upon hire and maintain current.
  • At the minimum, the student must be enrolled in a CoARC accredited respiratory program and complete first year of clinical rotations.
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
Pay Transparency

Central Maine Medical Center offers competitive compensation and a reasonable compensation estimate for this role is $22.26 per hour. The exact starting compensation to be offered will be determined at the time of selecting an applicant for hire, in which a wide range of factors will be considered, including but not limited to, skillset, years of applicable experience, education, credentials and licensure.
