Job summary

UCLA Health's Respiratory Care leadership role at UCLA Mattel Hospital seeks an experienced leader to guide staff, coordinate schedules, and advance evidence-based practices across acute care units in Los Angeles.

You will oversee daily operations, mentor teams, ensure compliance with HIPAA and regulatory standards, and drive quality improvements that enhance patient outcomes while managing resources and finances.

Qualifications

• 5 years of relevant respiratory therapy leadership experience.
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential and currently certified Respiratory Care Practitioner, State of California.
• Bachelor's degree in Respiratory Therapy or related field.
• Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) (American Heart Association or American Red Cross).
• Demonstrate strong clinical expertise with a solid understanding of clinical practice, procedures, and related equipment.
• Knowledge of healthcare regulations, including HIPAA, JCAHO standards, infection control practices, and other regulatory requirements.
• Ability to lead staff, coordinate schedules, and manage departmental operations
• Skill in assessing patient needs, prioritizing interventions, and providing guidance to staff.
• Resolve staffing, equipment, or patient care issues efficiently.
• Managing departmental finances, supplies, and equipment inventory.
• Lead qualityimprovement efforts that enhance patient outcomes and operational efficiency.
• Resolve interpersonal conflicts within teams and across departments with professionalism and care.
• Perform well under pressure and make timely decisions in urgent or highstress situations.
• Build a positive team environment by motivating staff, supporting morale, and fostering professional growth.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support staff to achieve departmental goals and enhance processes.
• Coordinate and educate team on the latest evidence-based practices across all acute care areas, assessing and evaluating quality and workflow to ensure high standards of care.
• Oversee department resources in daily operations and provide management support in the Director of Respiratory Care's absence.
• Lead quality improvement efforts that enhance patient outcomes and operational efficiency.
• Manage departmental finances, supplies, and equipment inventory.
