Job summary

LifeBridge Health is seeking a dedicated Respiratory Care Therapist to deliver high-quality respiratory care across our Maryland facilities. You will assess and treat patients with acute and chronic respiratory conditions, manage ventilators and therapeutic equipment, and respond to respiratory emergencies.

You will educate patients and families, document care in the EMR, and partner closely with a multidisciplinary team.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree or higher in respiratory care.
  • CRT and RCP licensure required in MD/DC as applicable.
  • Ability to work night shift and weekends as required.
  • Minimum one year Acute Care experience preferred but not required for all roles.

Responsibilities

  • Perform and monitor respiratory therapies and treatments.
  • Manage ventilators and mechanical ventilation (invasive and non-invasive).
  • Document care in the EMR and coordinate with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Respond to respiratory emergencies and participate in CPR/ACLS.

Job description

LifeBridge Health is seeking a dedicated Respiratory Care Therapist to deliver high-quality respiratory care across our Maryland facilities. In this collaborative, patient-centered role, you will assess and treat patients with acute and chronic respiratory conditions, manage ventilators and therapeutic equipment, and respond to respiratory emergencies. You will educate patients and families, document care in the EMR, and partner closely with a multidisciplinary team. Under supervision, applies specialized respiratory care knowledge to assess and recommend interventions for patients with cardiopulmonary issues. Proficient in administering diverse therapies, such as medical gas, humidity, aerosol, hyperinflation, bronchial hygiene therapies, and managing both invasive and non-invasive mechanical ventilation. Skilled in emergency care and collaborates with healthcare teams to implement tailored multidisciplinary care plans, while fulfilling assigned duties as needed.

Full-time Night Shift. Three shifts each week 7PM - 730AM. Every third weekend & some holidays required.

  • Contributes to the achievement of established department goals and objectives and adheres to department policies procedures quality standards and safety standards. Complies with governmental and accreditation regulations.
  • Assesses the physical psychosocial spiritual & cultural dimensions of the patient as well as educational needs and appropriately documents.
  • Performs all respiratory therapy treatments and services including but not limited to: application operation monitoring and management of all equipment and services provided. Service to include but not limited to: oxygen mixed gas and humidity; monitoring; ventilators (Invasive and Non-invasive); bronchial hygiene; lung expansion; Spirometry testing; EKG machines; Blood Gas Analysis.
  • Employs principles of therapeutic communication interviewing techniques problem solving and crisis intervention when performing patient care.
  • Reviews electronic medical records and physician orders throughout work shift.
  • Responds performs and participates in cardiopulmonary resuscitation by maintaining the airway providing oxygen and ventilation via mask endotracheal tube or other devices and performs closed chest cardiac massage.
  • Facilitates workflow efficiency monitoring interdepartmental systems and processes departmental policies and procedures and making recommendations for improvements as needed.

  • Complies with all policies and standards.
  • Utilized all organizational resources effectively and efficiently.
  • Where applicable refers to the competency validation documents for population(s) served.
  • Associate‘s degree Graduate of an AMA accredited program in respiratory care with an AAS Degree or higher required and
  • Bachelor‘s degree Baccalaureate degree in related healthcare field preferred
  • Less than 1 year Acute Care experience. Registry eligible required
  • RCP - Licensed Respiratory Care Practitioner Must process and maintain license to practice Respiratory Care in Maryland and/or the District of Columbia based on hospital location. required and
  • CRT - Certified Respiratory Therapist Licensed as a Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) from the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) is required. required and
  • RRT - Registered Respiratory Therapist Registered respiratory Therapist (RRT) from the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) is preferred. preferred
  • CPR - Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation (includes BLS and NRP) for healthcare providers from either the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross within 90 Days required and
  • Additional unit/specialty certifications may vary by department or business unit.
  • ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certification ACLS NRP PALS and other certifications are required within a year where required within 1 Year required
  • Working knowledge of human respiratory anatomy physiology and pathology as related to respiratory care. Knowledge of the operation of respiratory care equipment and its application in a clinical setting. The ability to assess hazardous conditions related to respiratory care and take corrective action. The ability to work with patients of all ages (neonatal to geriatrics). The ability to remain calm and function under stressful conditions. Must work well as a team member; must be articulate and communicate well with all types of people.

Salary Range: Minimum 34.62/hour - Maximum 57.19/hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility. In cases where the range is displayed as a $0 amount, salary discussions will occur during candidate screening calls, before any subsequent compensation discussion is held between the candidate and any hiring authority.
