Job summary

Mercy Health in Lorain, OH is seeking a Respiratory Care Practitioner II to provide high-quality respiratory care based on patient assessment and physician orders. You will work nights, participate as a charge therapist, and precept new team members while collaborating with a multidisciplinary care team.

You will assess and treat patients, monitor responses, document care, and educate patients and families on therapies and home care when appropriate.

Qualifications

• Current Respiratory Care License in the state they are working (required)
• NBRC credentialed (required)
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) (preferred)
• BLS/ACLS/PALS (preferred at hire, must obtain before direct patient care)
• NRP (preferred, required for specific sites)
• CPFT (preferred)
• RPFT (preferred)
• ACCS NBRC (preferred)
• Valid driver’s license (required for Home Care/DME)

Responsibilities

• Conducts initial and ongoing patient assessment, analyzes data and creates a care plan.
• Performs prescribed respiratory therapies and explains goals to patients while adjusting as needed.
• Serves as a preceptor to new team members and students.
• Maintains documentation and compliance with policies, safety and infection control standards.
• Educates patients on respiratory therapies and equipment usage.
• Sets up and maintains respiratory therapy equipment and supplies.
• Responds to emergencies and participates in resuscitations as needed.
