Job summary

Qualifications

• Associate degree or equivalent.
• Respiratory therapy certification required.
• RRT credential preferred; required if hired after 12/31/2010.
• BLS and PALS certifications required or preferred according to policy.
• ACLS and NRP preferred.

Responsibilities

• Conduct bedside spirometry tests (VC, FEV1).
• Set up, operate, troubleshoot respiratory equipment and maintain maintenance records.
• Assess patient response to therapy and adjust treatment as directed.
• Administer prescribed respiratory medications and therapies.
• Monitor patients on ventilation and assist in weaning as appropriate.
• Assist with supply management and inventory control.
• Adhere to departmental policies, infection control, and safety standards.
• Participate in education, in-service meetings, and CPR when needed.
• Perform nasotracheal and tracheal suctioning and ABG testing.
• Provide patient education on prescribed therapies and goals of treatment.
