Position Overview

The Respiratory Care Practitioner II (RCP II) possesses sufficient training and experience to perform independent professional respiratory care diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, clinical evaluation of care, including the establishment of therapeutic objectives and the review of care. The RCP II provides respiratory therapy modalities per protocol or as ordered by physicians, demonstrates proficiency in the use and operation of respiratory equipment, and delivers treatment to assigned age‑specific patient populations (infants, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics). They participate in continuing education, provide care according to professional standards, and use good judgment and personal initiative.

What You'll Do

• Perform all respiratory care services for all patients: geriatric, adult, pediatric, and neonatal.
• Duties include ventilator management, nebulized medication therapy, oxygen therapy, specialty gas administration, chest physiotherapy, aerosol therapy, mist tent therapy, quality assurance and improvement, and charge capture review.
• Perform diagnostic procedures such as 12‑lead ECG, simple pulmonary function testing, pulse oximetry, and assist physicians with cardiac stress testing.
• Perform arterial and capillary punctures; determine oxygenation, acid‑base balance, and efficiency of ventilation and metabolism; ensure adequate ventilation and oxygenation during cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
• Collaborate closely with other members of the health care team; participate in continuing education and Rapid Response Team activities.
• Record treatment and patients' responses in respiratory care records and patient charts.
• Assess patients, their needs, and ability to tolerate treatment, and make reassessments based on their response to treatment.
