Job summary

01 Salinas Valley Health Medical Center is seeking a Respiratory Care Technician in the Respiratory Care Department. The role reports to the Department Assistant Director and Supervisor and follows physician orders to deliver respiratory care.

Responsibilities include performing procedures, participating in interdisciplinary care, responding to Code Blue emergencies, documenting care, educating patients and families, and ensuring equipment readiness.

Qualifications

  • Registered: Graduate from an AMA accredited 2‑4 year Respiratory Care program.
  • Certified: Graduate from an AMA accredited one year Respiratory Care program.

Responsibilities

  • Performs Respiratory Care procedures in accordance with all standing policies and procedures.
  • Participates in the interdisciplinary approach to patient care.
  • Attends interdisciplinary patient care meetings.
  • Responds to all Code Blue emergencies in all areas of the hospital.
  • Provides care appropriate to the age of the patients served on the unit.
  • Sets up and maintains various types of Respiratory Care equipment.
  • Monitors the use and efficacy/complications of Respiratory Care equipment.
  • Institutes and monitors use/efficacy of oxygen therapy.
  • Maintains accurate patient care documentation and departmental records.
  • Participates in patient and family education.
  • Assists with the maintenance of adequate stock levels of respiratory disposable equipment.
  • Assists in processing equipment for decontamination.
  • Assists other therapists in the completion of assigned duties.
  • Attends departmental in‑services/staff meetings.
  • Attends all required hospital‑wide in‑services.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Education

Licensure
  • Must be licensed by the State of California to practice respiratory care, and be registered through the National Board of Respiratory Care.
  • BLS/Healthcare Provider status as per American Heart Association standards.
  • ACLS – Advanced Cardiac Life Support per American Heart Association Standards.
  • Completion of Neonatal Resuscitation Program course of American Academy of Pediatrics and American Heart Association.
Experience

Exposure to facets of Respiratory Care modalities in an AMA accredited Respiratory Care program.

Compensation

The hourly rate for this position is $65.69 - $79.85. The range displayed on this job posting reflects the target for new hire salaries for this position.
