Job summary

Portland Public Schools is seeking a dynamic, student-centered Special Education Teacher and Case Manager for King Middle School. The role focuses on delivering specially designed instruction and managing IEPs to support student progress.

Ideal candidates will collaborate with regular education teachers, related service providers, families and the school community to ensure equitable access to learning opportunities and positive outcomes for diverse learners.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in education from an accredited college or university.
• Maine State Teacher Certificate endorsements 286 or 282 required.
• Experience with IEPs and SDI in a school setting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide evidence-based SDI in all academic and functional areas for students with IEPs.
• Serve as case manager and oversee each student's IEP and timelines.
• Consult with regular education teachers on needs, accommodations and modifications.
• Collaborate with related service providers (speech, OT, PT, social workers).
• Administer academic assessments and participate in meetings and trainings.
