Job summary

Mason Health is hiring a Resource Nurse to provide skill-based nursing support across departments under the House Supervisor on Duty. You will collaborate with the care team to deliver patient-centered care and maintain quality standards.

Position is full-time (1.0FTE) with 10-hour day shifts, union representation, and a comprehensive benefits package designed to support professional growth and well-being.

Qualifications

  • Three (3) years of acute care nursing experience, or equivalent.
  • ICU experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provides nursing care within established standards of care and hospital policies.
  • Communicates and documents changes in patient condition in a timely manner.
  • Initiates discharge and referral plans utilizing hospital and community resources.
  • Assists with admissions, discharges, and patient education.
  • Performs procedures and supports nursing team to ensure patient safety.
  • Maintains competency and participates in staff meetings and education.

Resource Nurse: This 1.0FTE/Full-Time position is scheduled to work 10-HR Day shifts and is UFCW represented.

Compensation: Non-Exempt, $48.41-$94.02/HR

Job Summary:
The Resource Nurse provides skill-based nursing support to a variety of nursing departments as directed by the House Supervisor on Duty. Collaborates with other members of the health care team to provide quality, cost effective patient-centered care.

Job Specific Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Provides nursing care within established standards of care, hospital and unit policies, procedures, and guidelines. Uses evidenced-based care standards throughout the nursing process. Makes decisions reflecting knowledge of facts, knowledge of diseases/surgical conditions, care required, and good judgment. Functions as a patient advocate. Provides individualized patient and family-focused care throughout the patient’s stay and evaluates for effectiveness.
  • Accurately and effectively anticipates changes in patient care needs. Communicates and documents changes in patient condition, on a timely basis, to charge nurse/supervisor and physician.
  • Participates in patient and family education as evidenced by teaching documentation with appropriate resources.
  • Initiates effective discharge and referral plans on admission utilizing appropriate hospital and community resources.
  • Assists other nursing team members through the steps of the nursing process. Including but not limited to: admissions, discharges, education.
  • Performs all aspects of patient care in a manner that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors; documents according to established standards; communicates effectively.
  • Develops and maintains professional and clinical skills. Completes all annual competency and education requirements within established parameters and timeframes. Participates in staff meetings, patient care meetings, educational in-services and other professional activities. Maintains awareness of policies and procedures and performance standards.
  • Performs Peripherally Inserted Central Catheter (PICC) insertions.
  • Accompanies patients when transferring between departments.
  • Assists with procedures (including Treadmill Stress Tests), surgical recoveries, and outpatient treatments.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Required Education and Experience:

  • Three (3) years of acute care nursing experience, or equivalent, required.
  • ICU experience preferred.

Required Licenses, Certifications and/or Registrations:

  • Current RN license in the state of Washington
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, or within 180 days of hire.
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification within 3 months of hire.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification within 3 months of hire.
  • Treadmill Stress Test training within 3 months of hire.
  • PICC line insertion course within 6 months of hire.
  • Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) within 1 year of hire.
