Job summary

Jobtailor in the United States is seeking a seasoned resource management professional to optimize scheduling, utilization, and staffing across engagements.

You will partner with Tax Practice leaders and engagement teams to improve workforce planning, analyze data, and drive efficiency across locations and client engagements.

The role emphasizes stakeholder collaboration, coaching, and continuous improvement to align resources with engagement needs and business goals.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in resource management, scheduling, or related in a professional services or public accounting environment.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office with ability to create data-rich presentations.
  • Excellent analytical, forecasting, and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Strong verbal and written communication with the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience influencing across teams and coaching for development.
  • Adaptability and a continuous improvement mindset.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Tax Practice leaders to drive consistency across locations and optimize performance.
  • Analyze scheduling, utilization, and forecasting data to support staffing decisions.
  • Monitor workloads and address scheduling conflicts to balance utilization.
  • Align resources by skillset, industry experience, geography to maximize client outcomes.
  • Generate reports on productivity, utilization, profitability, and availability.
  • Facilitate scheduling discussions and follow up on staffing challenges.
  • Maintain workforce plans and partner with leadership and HR for variances.
  • Build relationships with internal stakeholders as an advisor on resource management.
  • Participate in talent development discussions related to staffing opportunities.
  • Lead or support onboarding and training for scheduling systems.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement and firm-wide resource initiatives.

Job description

Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with Tax Practice leaders and engagement teams to understand business needs and drive consistency across locations, with a focus on efficiency and financial performance
  • Analyze scheduling, utilization, and forecasting data to provide insights that support staffing decisions and improve workforce planning
  • Monitor staff workloads and proactively address scheduling conflicts to ensure balanced utilization and alignment with engagement needs
  • Align resources based on skillset, industry experience, technical expertise, and geography to maximize effectiveness and client outcomes
  • Generate and interpret reports related to productivity, utilization, profitability, and availability, identifying trends and opportunities for improvement
  • Facilitate scheduling discussions, provide recommendations, and follow up on outstanding staffing challenges to ensure timely resolution
  • Maintain workforce plans and partner with leadership, Finance, and HR to address variances and support strategic initiatives
  • Build trusted relationships with internal stakeholders, serving as a key advisor on resource management and operational efficiency
  • Participate in talent development discussions, offering input on staffing opportunities aligned with individual goals and career growth
  • Lead or support onboarding and training related to scheduling systems, tools, and processes
  • Contribute to continuous improvement efforts by sharing best practices and supporting firmwide resource management initiatives
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • 5+ years of experience in resource management, scheduling, or related experience within a professional services or public accounting environment
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office and ability to create presentations with charts, graphics, and data analysis
  • Excellent analytical, forecasting, and problem-solving capabilities with the ability to interpret complex data
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities, stay organized, and operate with a sense of urgency in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience identifying challenges, making recommendations, and knowing when to elevate complex issues
  • Ability to influence and collaborate effectively across teams, functions, and levels of the organization
  • Strong relationship-building skills with a focus on coaching, development, and collaboration
  • Adaptability and a continuous improvement mindset, with the ability to drive process enhancements and support change initiatives
