Job summary

State of Maine in Augusta is seeking a Community Care Worker to conduct home studies and kinship assessments, assist in securing placements for youth entering care through OCFS, and provide ongoing support to resource families across the district.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree in Social Services or Behavioral Science (or equivalent), plus strong information gathering and communication skills. Overtime and travel within the district are expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in social services.
• Experience in public contact work, information gathering, analysis, documentation, and collaboration.
• Proficiency in motivational interviewing. (as applicable)

Responsibilities

• Conducting home studies, foster home investigations to determine possible violations, or kinship assessments for relatives and fictive kin placements.
• Assisting in securing placements for youth entering care through OCFS utilizing available resources and best placement practices.
• Providing information to teams about strengths an approved resource family can contribute toward meeting a specific child's needs.
• Providing ongoing support to resource family applicants and approved resource families.
• Recruiting and providing training and support to resource families.
