Job summary

Hyatt Centric Key West Resort and Spa is seeking a General Maintenance Engineer to uphold the resort’s safety, function, and appearance across guest rooms, public spaces, and back-of-house areas. This hands-on role requires practical technical skills and the ability to troubleshoot a range of systems in a fast-paced hospitality setting.

Responsibilities include routine and corrective maintenance, preventative inspections, and timely response to guest requests, with on-call duties as needed.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2–3 years of maintenance or engineering experience, preferably in hotels.
• Ability to diagnose issues and perform repairs independently.
• Pool Operator Certification (CPO) or willingness to obtain.
• Strong attention to detail and guest-service mindset.
• Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in varied weather.
• Basic computer skills for work order systems.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine and corrective maintenance on guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house facilities
• Troubleshoot and repair basic electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, and mechanical issues
• Conduct preventative maintenance inspections to ensure equipment and facilities remain in safe working condition
• Respond promptly to maintenance requests from guests and internal departments
• Assist with pool, spa, and exterior maintenance as needed
• Maintain accurate maintenance logs and work orders
• Ensure compliance with safety standards, building codes, and Hyatt brand standards
• Coordinate with supervisors and external vendors when advanced repairs are required
• Support emergency maintenance situations, including after-hours calls as scheduled
