Job summary

Hyatt Centric Key West is seeking a General Maintenance Engineer to uphold safety, functionality and aesthetics of the resort. You will perform routine and corrective maintenance across guest rooms, public spaces, and back‑of‑house areas with strong troubleshooting and hands‑on technical skills.

This mid‑level role requires the ability to diagnose issues, prioritize tasks, and coordinate with vendors while maintaining detailed work orders and logs.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2–3 years of maintenance or engineering experience, preferably in a hotel or resort.
  • Working knowledge of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and general building maintenance.
  • Ability to diagnose issues and implement effective repairs independently.
  • Pool Operator Certification (CPO) or willingness to obtain.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to guest service excellence.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and work efficiently with minimal supervision.
  • Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders, and work in varying weather conditions.
  • Basic computer skills for work order systems preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine and corrective maintenance on guest rooms, public areas, and back‑of‑house facilities.
  • Troubleshoot and repair basic electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, and mechanical issues.
  • Conduct preventative maintenance inspections to ensure equipment and facilities remain in safe working condition.
  • Respond promptly to maintenance requests from guests and internal departments.
  • Assist with pool, spa, and exterior maintenance as needed.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance logs and work orders.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards, building codes, and Hyatt brand standards.
  • Coordinate with supervisors and external vendors when advanced repairs are required.
  • Support emergency maintenance situations, including after‑hours calls as scheduled.

The General Maintenance Engineer is responsible for maintaining the overall functionality, safety, and appearance of the resort by performing routine maintenance, repairs, and preventative upkeep of guest rooms, public spaces, and back‑of‑house areas. This mid-level role requires hands‑on technical skill, strong troubleshooting abilities, and the flexibility to support resort operations in a fast‑paced hospitality environment.

Key Responsibilities
