Job summary

The Island Resort at Fort Walton Beach is seeking a Maintenance Superintendent to lead the Engineering Department and oversee the daily maintenance of a large beachfront resort in Florida. The property includes 333 rooms, 3 pools, a spa, and 11 acres of grounds and water features.

The role provides day‑to‑day leadership for a maintenance team of 18 and supports the Director of Engineering, stepping in during absence. Strong hands‑on maintenance, safety, and guest‑focused service are essential.

Qualifications

• Significant experience in commercial, hotel, resort, or large‑facility maintenance.
• Previous supervisory or management experience in an Engineering or Maintenance Department.
• Strong working knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, pool, building, and general maintenance systems.
• Experience with preventive maintenance and computerized work-order systems preferred.
• Ability to communicate effectively with employees, department heads, senior management, contractors, vendors, and guests.

Responsibilities

• Direct and supervise 18 Engineering/Maintenance staff and Security personnel.
• Coordinate staffing for 24‑hour resort operation and ensure work orders are completed.
• Coordinate safety initiatives, OSHA compliance, and guest‑impacting conditions.
• Assist Director with planning, budgeting, and long‑term maintenance planning.
• Coordinate outside contractors, purchasing, and inventory to control costs.
