Job summary

Grand Traverse Resort and Spa seeks an Assistant Director of Engineering to lead engineering staff, manage daily operations, and support multiple maintenance functions across the property. The role collaborates with the Director of Engineering to ensure guest service excellence and regulatory compliance.

The successful candidate will oversee maintenance programs, safety, budgeting, and vendor negotiations, while maintaining strong communication with internal teams to deliver a memorable guest

Qualifications

• Must possess an associate’s or bachelor’s degree in a technical field or have 4 years of direct experience in institutional maintenance (hospitality preferred)
• Must have 5 years of supervisory experience
• Knowledge in HVAC, Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, Controls, etc.
• Knowledge of facility management including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, refrigeration, etc.
• Experience with computer work order systems and Microsoft operating systems

Responsibilities

• Plan and manage day-to-day workload for direct reports with focus on guest service and maintenance projects
• Maintain department ledger, track expenses, coordinate billing, setup and services
• Oversee safety of facility operations and respond to emergencies
• Negotiate contracts with vendors or contractors and initiate purchase orders
• Maintain documentation and inventory for building and equipment operation
