Job summary

Hilton Myrtle Beach Resort is seeking a Chief Engineer to lead the engineering team, ensure safe operation of all equipment, manage staff, and maintain product quality to meet guest expectations. Responsibilities include screening applicants, recommending hires and promotions to the Director of Engineering, enforcing budgetary controls, overseeing training, and upholding codes and preventive maintenance.

Qualifications

• Ability to handle multiple functions.
• Speak, read and write English.
• Excellent communication and human relations skills.
• Knowledge of hotel maintenance including HVAC, electrical, carpentry, painting, drywall, etc.
• Minimum of 2 years of maintenance or similar management experience.
• Hotel maintenance experience is required, preferably with a multi-building property.

Responsibilities

• Conduct applicant screening and interviews for Engineering positions.
• Make recommendations as to hiring, advancement, discipline and promotion to Director of Engineering.
• Ensure department spending stays within budgetary limits and online spending.
• Ensure directives and standards are followed within department.
• Staff training, assignments and supervision.
• Ensure quality performance in staff assignments.
• Ensure building code and quality standards at departmental and interdepartmental levels.
• Monitor equipment and preventative maintenance standards to ensure quality product.

The Chief Engineer is responsible for the management of activities within the department, ensuring the standards and objectives of the department are implemented and maintained in equipment operation, staff management, and product quality to meet and exceed guest expectations.
