Job summary

Horizons Youth Services at Milwaukee Job Corps Center seeks a 2nd shift Youth Worker/Dorm Monitor to oversee dorm operations, supervise students, and support their development. You will maintain safety, coordinate with counselors, and log activities across shifts.

The role requires at least one year of experience with youth, a high school diploma or GED, and a valid Wisconsin driver’s license. Associate degree is preferred and responsibilities include transport and record-keeping.

Qualifications

• One year of experience working with youth and young adults.
• High School Diploma or GED required; Associate's degree preferred.
• Valid State Drivers’ License.

Responsibilities

• Ensure orderly, clean dorm living conditions by supervising and participating in dorm clean up and repairs.
• Identify and assist students with problems; train student leaders and assist in dormitory meetings.
• Maintain records for each student including emergency contacts and parental consent (minors) for weekend passes.
• Assist students in developing personal and independent living goals and monitor progress.
• Maintain communication with counselors, instructors and staff; ensure CIS notes are accurate.
• Establish a supportive relationship with students and monitor behavior impartially.
• Follow health guidelines and safety practices.
• Transport students to activities and events as needed.
• Maintain logbooks of shift activities and ensure a secure environment.
• Secure personal property when a student is absent and document items.
• Conduct periodic checks to maintain order and discipline.
• Participate in staff meetings and trainings; mentor and model career success skills.
