Cocoon House in Monroe, WA is hiring a Youth Housing Support Staff (Residential Youth Counselor) to provide a safe, supportive environment for teens in our emergency shelter. The role emphasizes building trusting relationships, modeling healthy boundaries, and delivering life and social skills training.

The ideal candidate is passionate about youth development, knowledgeable about trauma-informed care, and committed to inclusivity.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• At least 6 months of experience working with youth.
• Ability to attend weekly meetings and supervision.
• DCYF background clearance required.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

• Build supportive relationships with youth and staff.
• Maintain healthy boundaries with youth.
• Accept diverse lifestyles and practices.
• Assess emergencies and provide proper support.
• Follow mandated reporting policies.
• De-escalate crises using trauma-informed care.
• Process intakes/exits and document information.
• Coordinate with case managers on youth plans.
• Supervise and ensure safety while enforcing policies.
• Provide meals and assist with household tasks.
• Transport youth to appointments as needed.
