DIFFERENTIAL PAY

(10%) is paid 5:00 pm - 7:30 am. Monday thru Friday

(20%) is paid 12:00 am - 12:00 am. Saturday and Sunday

$1,500 SIGN ON BONUS

As a Residential Youth Counselor, you will provide daily therapeutic care and programming according to agency policy and governing bodies' (DSS, OMH, JCAHO, etc.) requirements for elementary aged children. You will work on-site on our Albany campus and will report to the Residential Supervisor.

Description

Provide for the physical and psychological needs of clients, including physical safety, hygiene, clothing, food, cooking, medical care, and providing a reliable and nurturing environment.

Responsibilities:
  1. Follow individual youth’s 1:1 expectations plan, ICMP, and safety plans.
  2. Engage youth in age-appropriate activities and conversations.
  3. Document shift summaries in writing.
  4. Learn youth history and issues; manage crises safely.
  5. Obtain training specific to youth needs.
  6. Transport youth for medical and mental health needs.
RC1
  • Work within trauma-informed framework, using coping/safety plans.
  • Build positive relationships with youth.
  • Complete mandatory trainings.
  • Demonstrate basic TCI techniques.
  • Follow program routines and protocols.
  • Collaborate with team members.
  • Maintain respectful communication with stakeholders.
  • Ensure documentation meets standards.
  • Transport clients as needed.
RC2

All RC1 duties plus:

  • Facilitate groups and visitation, applying curriculum/models like DBT, SAY.
  • Lead dorm/cottage activities and participate in committees.
  • Take on leadership roles within the team.
  • Build relationships with challenging youth and families.
RC3

All RC1 and RC2 duties plus:

  • Apply critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Exercise good judgment in routines and plans.
  • Lead and delegate tasks to team members.
Requirements and Education:
  • HS Diploma/GED required.
  • Experience with emotionally disturbed populations preferred.
  • Valid, clean driver’s license required.
  • Must pass physical and complete TCI training.
Experience for Levels:
  • RC1: Experience with emotionally disturbed population preferred.
  • RC2: At least 6 months of related experience; 1 year preferred.
  • RC3: At least 1 year of related experience; 2+ years preferred.
