Job summary

Republic Services in Houston is seeking a Driver Helper to ride on the vehicle and assist the Driver with completing residential waste removal routes on a designated area. You will help load waste, carry bags and containers, and support safe vehicle operation.

The role emphasizes courteous customer service, on-site cleanliness, and adherence to safety and productivity standards. Previous experience is not required, but reliability and a strong work ethic are valued.

Qualifications

• Must be capable of lifting heavy objects and working outdoors in varying weather.
• Excellent customer service and communication with customers and dispatchers.

Responsibilities

• Ride on the vehicle to assist the Driver while servicing customers on a designated route.
• Operate packing mechanism and various levers and handles to activate the lifting and loading mechanism.
• Clean waste from the packer blade and truck body on each disposal trip and spray the hopper and truck if applicable.
• Perform complete pre- and post-operation vehicle inspections and report safety issues.
• Interact courteously with customers, dispatchers and others to ensure timely service.
• Maintain safety and productivity standards and support on-site cleanliness.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
