The North Slope Borough is seeking a Housing Project Specialist II to perform residential upgrade and maintenance tasks on qualified houses under general supervision, including materials handling and weatherization. You will read and follow work orders, assist with assessments, and maintain safety and records.

Applicants should have basic construction exposure, ability to lift 75 lbs, Alaska driver’s license, and willingness to travel to villages.

Formación

• Awareness of basic construction practices in cold climates.
• Ability to work in confined spaces, such as attics, and in environments that may be cold, hot, dirty, dusty, etc.
• Ability to lift up to 75 pounds.
• Ability to travel to North Slope villages for extended periods of time.
• Ability to work in cross-cultural environments and relate to low-income, disabled and elderly clients.
• Ability to prioritize tasks in an efficient manner.
• Ability to understand and follow directions.
• Ability to learn new tasks.
• Knowledge of North Slope Borough policies and procedures.
• Knowledge and demonstrated safe use of all necessary tools.

Responsabilidades

• Perform various residential upgrade and maintenance tasks as directed.
• Read, interpret and follow directions in work orders.
• Assist senior Housing Project Specialists and Superintendent with home assessments and inspections.
• Maintain awareness of NSB Housing Department policies and procedures.
• Report to Housing Project Superintendent and maintain timely diaries of work hours.
• Load and unload materials from barges, aircraft, trucks, and containers as required.
• Promote workplace safety and orderliness per policies and rules.
• Attend required training through Ilisagvik College and maintain on-the-job learning records.
