Job summary

North Slope Borough seeks a facilities maintenance worker to perform routine upkeep across buildings and grounds, including carpentry, plumbing and electrical repairs. Responsibilities include inspecting systems, maintaining records, and ensuring safety standards are met.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, a valid Alaska driver’s license, and experience in related trades. Certifications may be needed within probation, including safety and storm-response trainings.

Qualifications

• Two years of combined work experience in carpentry, mechanics, electrical, or plumbing.
• Valid Alaska Driver's License that meets Borough criteria.
• Prior ETP rotational shift work experience in Prudhoe Bay (Technical Training Center only)
• Mandatory to obtain multiple safety/technical certifications within probation (IS 100/200/700/800; NSTC; CPR/First Aid; OSHA 10)
• Ability to obtain site-specific training (RCRA, HAZWOPER, SPCC) within probationary period

Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance on facilities and grounds including carpentry, plumbing and electrical repairs.
• Maintain and repair HVAC, Plumbing, Electrical and security systems.
• Inspect facilities, equipment and grounds for repairs or preventative maintenance.
• Use power tools and equipment for basic carpentry, electrical, mechanical, air conditioning, plumbing repairs.
• Maintain accurate records and inventory Receiving Reports.
• Perform janitorial duties on the grounds and in the facility.
• Comply with all safety standards and perform duties as assigned.
