Job summary

Mental Health Association - Western MA is seeking a Residential Support Specialist to provide person-centered support in community residential settings within the Integrated Community Living (ICL) department. You will travel to different program locations, fostering growth, independence, and community engagement for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities or autism.

Qualifications

  • Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
  • MAP, CPR, and First Aid certifications required/desirable.
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • High school diploma or GED required; college degree preferred.
  • At least six months of experience with mental health, developmental disabilities, or autism preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide respectful, person-centered support in daily living activities and skill development.
  • Promote community integration through transportation access, social activities, and external resources.
  • Support health needs including medication administration, appointment scheduling, and wellbeing monitoring.
  • Assist with financial skills and money management; document expenditures.
  • Respond to emergencies following agency protocols and communicate with supervisors.
  • Advocate for participants; liaise with families, providers and community supports.
  • Contribute to ISPs; document progress and participation.
  • Maintain accurate documentation: logs, incident reports, health records.
  • Promote safety; participate in drills and identify hazards.
  • Collaborate with team; complete trainings and maintain MAP, CPR, First Aid certifications.
