Job summary

North Suffolk Community Services, Inc. is seeking Residential Support Specialists and Direct Support Specialists to join our Chelsea-based team. You will provide direct care in residential settings for individuals with mental health needs or developmental disabilities across several locations in the area.

We welcome both entry-level and experienced candidates. The role offers daytime, evening, and overnight shifts, with benefits including PTO, holidays, insurance, and retirement options.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Bachelor’s degree in any related field preferred.
• Experience supporting individuals in mental health/human services setting or with severe mental illness/substance use disorder.
• Must have valid Driver’s license, MAP certification, and CPR/First Aid certification within five months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Implement individual treatment plans for residents.
• Assist with daily living activities including meal prep, money management, doctor’s appointments and personal hygiene.
• Engage residents to improve health, stabilize symptoms and develop self-management skills.
• Maintain appropriate staff-to-client ratios at all times.
• Develop a supportive relationship with residents and promote social engagement.
• Provide side-by-side support to help residents participate in the community.

North Suffolk is looking for Residential Support Specialists and Direct Support Specialists to join our team! These team members provide direct care to individuals living in a residential setting. Residential Support Specialists work with individuals with various mental health related diagnoses, while Direct Support Specialists work with clients with developmental disabilities.

What you’ll do:

• Implement individual treatment plans for residents
• Assist with daily living activities, including meal preparation, money management, doctor’s appointments and assisting with personal hygiene
• Engage people and partner with them to improve their health and wellness, achieve symptom stabilization and self-management and develop and/or restore skills impacted by mental illness to help them live a self-directed life.
• Ensure appropriate staff-to-client ratio at all time
• Develop and promote a supportive relationship with the residents
• Provide side-by-side support and coaching to help people socialize and become more involved in their community.

What you’ll need:

• Education:
  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in any related field preferred.
• Experience:
  • Experience supporting individuals in a mental health/special education or other human services setting OR
  • Experience working with a population that has severe and persistent mental illness and/or substance use disorder.
• Skills:
  • Must have valid Driver’s license.
  • Must be or able to become MAP certified.
  • Must be or able to become CPR/First Aid certified within five months of hire (training provided).
• $20 per hour
• $2.00/hour differential for high intensity programs
