Job summary

The Chemical Dependency Counselor at Sister Rosalie Center for Recovery in Anchorage provides substance use disorder counseling within a 10-bed ASAM Level 3.1 residential program. You will support adults through individual and group services, relapse prevention, and coordinated care with internal and external providers to promote recovery and housing stability.

The role requires CDC1 or higher certification and at least one year of direct services experience; travel outside Alaska is rare.

Qualifications

• Certification as a Chemical Dependency Counselor (CDC) 1 or higher by the Alaska Commission for Behavioral Health Certification (ACBHC) or NAADAC certifying body.
• One year of direct services experience.
• Valid driver’s license, auto insurance, and reliable vehicle; use of personal vehicle for work travel.

Responsibilities

• Provide individual substance use counseling to support recovery goals and coping skills.
• Facilitate structured group sessions on education, relapse prevention, and life skills.
• Complete initial and ongoing assessments and contribute to treatment plans.
• Monitor progress and update interventions as needed.
• Discharge planning and transition coordination to lower levels of care.
• Maintain timely and accurate documentation as required by policy and regulations.
