Job summary

Community Medical Services is seeking a Substance Abuse Counselor to support patients in an outpatient setting, with a Monday–Friday schedule in Anchorage. You will conduct individual sessions, lead group counseling, and develop treatment plans while coordinating care with other providers.

Ideal candidates hold a high school diploma or GED (Associates or Bachelors preferred), QAP certification, and an active CD I license or higher; behavioral health experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; associate or bachelor’s preferred.
• QAP certification must be completed by training.
• Active CD I license or higher required.
• Behavioral health experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and manage a caseload in compliance with regulations.
• Conduct individual sessions and facilitate group counseling.
• Deliver didactic educational presentations to clients.
• Complete behavioral health assessments and treatment plans.
• Evaluate treatment progress and modify service plans as needed.
• Coordinate care with other recovery and community providers.
• Engage family and natural supports in treatment when appropriate.
• Maintain thorough client records and documentation.
• Serve as a primary contact for system coordination and referrals.
• Screen and coordinate primary care services for clients.
