Job summary

Genesis House in Oceanside, CA is seeking a Counselor I – SUD to provide client-centered counseling, case management, and recovery support within a residential treatment program. You will perform assessments, develop care plans, support discharge planning, and ensure documentation meets program and regulatory standards.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Two years of related experience in substance use disorder services.
• Current AOD counselor registration with a DHCS-approved organization.
• Knowledge of addiction treatment modalities.
• Ability to use computers and navigate EMR systems.
• Strong oral and written communication; crisis intervention skills.

Responsibilities

• Conduct ASAM assessments and coordinate with LPHA as needed.
• Develop and update care plans and required documentation.
• Create discharge and aftercare plans tailored to clients.
• Maintain timely documentation in EMR and records.
• Provide individual and group counseling and recovery services.
• Administer random urinalysis and ensure compliance.
• Coordinate referrals with social service agencies and courts.
• Attend staff meetings and clinical staffing sessions.
