Accelera in Cleveland is seeking a Residential Student Mentor to foster a supportive living environment and guide students toward personal and academic goals. You will advocate for residents, nurture positive group dynamics, and maintain an inclusive, safe atmosphere on campus.

The role involves mentoring, supervising dorm activities, managing records, coordinating transportation, conducting room Inspections, leading group sessions, and collaborating with campus teams to address behavioral needs

Qualifications

  • Must have a High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to pass comprehensive background checks and drug screenings.
  • Valid Driver’s License with a clean driving record.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to interact with diverse populations.

Responsibilities

  • Mentor students and provide mentorship, conflict resolution, and behavioral guidance.
  • Supervise dorm activities and student government meetings to ensure a structured environment.
  • Maintain administrative records including student files and progress evaluations.
  • Coordinate student transportation for off-site activities while ensuring safety.
  • Conduct regular room inspections and coordinate with maintenance teams.
  • Lead group counseling sessions and orientation programs to develop life skills.
  • Collaborate with interdepartmental teams to monitor progress and intervene when needed.
  • Model professional behavior and uphold a harassment-free campus climate.

As a Residential Student Mentor, you will cultivate a supportive and structured living environment that empowers students to achieve their personal and academic goals. You will serve as a key advocate and guide, fostering positive group dynamics and ensuring a safe, inclusive atmosphere for all residents.

Responsibilities
  • Facilitate positive student relations by providing mentorship, conflict resolution, and behavioral guidance to support individual growth.
  • Supervise daily dormitory activities, including recreational events and student government meetings, to ensure a structured and engaging environment.
  • Maintain accurate administrative records, including student files, morning reports, and progress evaluations.
  • Coordinate student transportation for off-site activities and appointments while ensuring safety and accountability.
  • Conduct regular room inspections and coordinate with maintenance teams to ensure a clean, safe, and functional living space.
  • Lead group counseling sessions and orientation programs to help students develop essential life skills and career readiness.
  • Collaborate with interdepartmental teams to monitor student progress and intervene proactively when behavioral support is needed.
  • Model professional behavior and maintain a campus climate free from harassment and intimidation.
Required Skills
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to pass comprehensive background checks and drug screenings.
  • Valid Driver’s License with a clean driving record.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to build rapport with diverse populations.
Preferred Skills
  • Associate’s degree in Counseling, Social Work, or a related human services field.
  • Two or more years of experience working directly with youth in a residential or educational setting.
  • Prior experience within a structured residential youth program or Job Corps environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage administrative documentation and safety compliance protocols.
