Job summary

Insights Training Group LLC at Cincinnati Job Corps Center seeks an energetic counselor to deliver residential counseling services focused on personal and social development, career development, and behavior.   • Maintains communications with students’ counselors, instructors, and other staff members.
  • Supervises cafeteria, laundry, activities, and other program areas as scheduled.
  • Maintains CIS case notes and required reports; follows safety practices.
  • Works with admissions counselors and parents/guardians on student progress.

Job Summary:

Responsible for delivering counseling services, in a residential setting to residential students in personal and social development, career development, and behavior. Provides individual and group counseling, training and crisis intervention to all students.

Duties:
  • Organizes and conducts career technical/academic, social and personal career development counseling sessions to individuals and groups during evening and weekend hours.
  • Assists students in seeking advanced training opportunities, i.e., technical training or college admittance.
  • Ensures orderly, clean‑living conditions by scheduling and supervising clean up and submitting repair requests.
  • Provides supervision for the cafeteria, laundry, special activities (on and off Center) and other areas of the program as scheduled or assigned.
  • Conducts social development training.
  • Maintains communication with students’ counselors, instructors, and with other staff members.
  • Maintains and documents communications with parents, guardians and Admissions Counselors in regard to the resolution of students’ problems.
  • Establishes meaningful working relationships with other staff members and acts as a resource person to help these individuals deal positively with student behavior.
  • Establish meaningful working relationships with counselors, instructors, SPO and residential advisors and acts as a liaison between students and these departments.
  • Provides information to the Student Personnel Officer (SPO) and, upon request, represents the students at review panels as requested.
  • Meets with SPO for consultation on individual and group problems.
  • Develops referrals and receives copies of all individual progress reports and disciplinary hearings from instructors, disciplinary officers, Residential Supervisors and other staff and provides follow‑up information.
  • Serves as a member of committees to review policies and procedures relating to the counseling program and the Center’s operation as directed.
  • Administers leaves and passes in CIS to adhere to DOL policies.
  • Assist staff in completing Evaluations of Student Progress (ESP’s).
  • Transports students to and from bus stations and other scheduled appointments when necessary.
  • Act as residential Supervisor in their absence.
  • Works toward meeting performance management goals.
  • Follows the CDSS/CSS/BMS plans and procedures daily.
  • Conduct and document UA follow up by PRH requirements.
  • Maintains updated monthly CIS case notes in required format on assigned students.
  • Maintains good housekeeping in all areas and complies with safety practices.
  • Complies with all DOL guidelines, OFCCP regulations, Job Corps notices and bulletins, and Center policies and procedures.
  • Models, mentors, and monitors appropriate career success standards.
  • Helps students become more employable through continuous reinforcement.
  • Participates in PRH mandated staff training.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Qualifications:

Experience:

Minimum of one year experience in counseling or related field plus one year experience working with youth and young adults.

Education:

Bachelor’s degree, including 15 semester hours of instruction in social services-related instruction.
