Job summary

ION Solar in Bloomington, IL is seeking a licensed electrician to install, maintain and repair solar power systems for residential projects. You will join a team delivering high-quality electrical work outdoors and in attics, with emphasis on safety and customer satisfaction.

Requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent, a formal apprenticeship or active enrollment, and the ability to read blueprints and use diagnostic tools.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Solar or relevant experience preferred.
• Licensed - completion of formal apprenticeship and proof of license OR enrolled in trade apprenticeship.

Responsibilities

• Complete projects within established policies and procedures.
• Complete projects within time frames and budgets.
• Maintain high levels of QA/QC with emphasis on crew safety.
• Assemble solar array, seal roof penetrations, install related equipment.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot system malfunctions and operational issues.
• Communicate professionally with customers and document paperwork.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Position Type: Full Time

Salary Range: $60,000.00 - $65,000.00 Salary/year

Licensed Electricians install, maintain, and repair electrical power, communications, lighting, and control systems for various projects in the solar installation process.

Duties/Responsibilities

• Complete projects within established policies and procedures
• Complete projects within time frames and budgets
• Maintain high levels of quality assurance and quality control with an emphasis on crew safety
• Assemble the solar array raking, properly seal all roof penetrations, and install all relative equipment
• MSP Rebuilds & Upgrades
• Responsible for the groundwork of a solar installation which includes the connection to the MSP
• Diagnose and troubleshoot system malfunctions and operational issues
• Communicate with customers in a professional, and respectful manner, answering all questions and complaints to the best of your ability
• Document proper paperwork for each job completed
• Performs other related duties as assigned

Required Skills/Abilities

• Ability to read blueprints
• Extensive knowledge of electrical systems and wiring
• Ability to use hand tools and power tools
• Proficient in the use of test meters and other diagnostic equipmentExcellent analytical and problem-solving skills

Education and Experience

• A high school diploma or equivalent is required
• Solar or relevant experience is preferred

License Requirements

• Licensed - Completion of a formal apprenticeship and proof of valid electrician's license required
• Unlicensed - Must be enrolled in a trade apprenticeship

Driving Requirements

• Must be at least 21 years old
• Must have a clean driving record as determined by a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to see color to discern color-coded wiring.
• Prolonged periods standing, kneeling, bending, and climbing ladders or scaffolding.
• Must be able to work at great heights.
• Must be physically capable of pulling wires and cables through conduits.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time.

Work Environment

• PV installation is done outdoors. Installers work on rooftops but also sometimes work in attics and crawl spaces to connect panels to the electrical grid.
• PV installers work as part of a team and may require the help of technicians and electricians.
