Job summary

ION Solar is seeking Licensed Electricians to install, maintain, and repair electrical systems for residential solar projects in Maryland. You will work on rooftop and indoor installations, ensuring safety, quality, and adherence to project timelines.

Experience with blueprints, test meters, and diagnostic tools is essential. Apprenticeships lead to licensed status; unlicensed candidates may enroll in a trade program. Competitive wages and benefits are offered.

Qualifications

  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent and a valid electrician's license.
  • Formal apprenticeship completion is required for licensed status.
  • Solar installation experience is preferred but not mandatory.

Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain, and repair electrical power, communications, lighting, and control systems for solar projects.
  • Complete projects within policies, time frames, and budgets while ensuring quality and safety.
  • Assemble solar array racking, seal roof penetrations, and connect equipment to the MSP.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot system malfunctions and operational issues.
  • Document paperwork for each job and communicate with customers professionally.

ION Solar is a rapidly expanding, full-service residential solar company with a strong nationwide presence. Our dedicated team is committed to making solar energy accessible and affordable for homeowners across the country.

We are currently seeking Licensed Electricians to install, maintain, and repair electrical power, communications, lighting, and control systems for various projects in the solar installation process.

Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Complete projects within established policies and procedures
  • Complete projects within time frames and budgets
  • Maintain high levels of quality assurance and quality control with an emphasis on crew safety
  • Assemble the solar array racking, properly seal all roof penetrations, and install all relative equipment
  • Responsible for the groundwork of a solar installation which includes the connection to the MSP
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot system malfunctions and operational issues
  • Communicate with customers in a professional, and respectful manner, answering all questions and complaints to the best of your ability
  • Document proper paperwork for each job completed
  • Performs other related duties as assigned
Required Skills/Abilities:
  • Ability to read blueprints
  • Extensive knowledge of electrical systems and wiring
  • Ability to use hand tools and power tools
  • Proficient in the use of test meters and other diagnostic equipment
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
Education and Experience:
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required
  • Solar or relevant experience is preferred

Licensed - Completion of a formal apprenticeship and proof of valid electrician's license required

Unlicensed - Must be enrolled in a trade apprenticeship

Driving Requirements:
  • Must be at least 21 years old
  • Must have a clean driving record as determined by a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check
Physical Requirements:
  • Must be able to see color to discern color-coded wiring.
  • Prolonged periods standing, kneeling, bending, and climbing ladders or scaffolding.
  • Must be able to work at great heights.
  • Must be physically capable of pulling wires and cables through conduits.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time.
  • PV installation is done outdoors. Installers work on rooftops but also sometimes work in attics and crawl spaces to connect panels to the electrical grid.
  • PV installers work as part of a team and may require the help of technicians and electricians.
