Job summary

ION Solar is seeking an Inspection Technician/Permit Runner to manage inspections after solar installations in Bloomington, IL. This full-time role requires coordinating with jurisdictions, delivering project documents, and reporting progress to the corporate office.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma, at least 1 year in construction (electrical/roofing/framing), and the ability to work independently with solid math and communication skills.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• More than 1 year of construction experience in electrical, roofing, or framing.
• Solar experience preferred.

We are looking for qualified Inspection Technicians/Permit Runners who will be responsible for the management of all inspections following the solar installation.

Duties/Responsibilities

• Setting up inspections with the proper jurisdictions
• Delivering documents at the premises of projects.
• Sharing information with the corporate office about important items with each project.
• Complete projects within established policies and procedures.
• Complete projects within time frames and budgets.
• Maintain high levels of quality assurance and quality control with an emphasis on crew safety.
• Communicate with customers in a professional, considerate, and respectful manner, answering all questions and complaints to the best of your ability.
• Performs other related duties as assigned

Required Skills/Abilities

• Work exceptionally well with others, competently delegate work among the crew and resolve potential issues.
• Ability to follow instructions
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Organized with attention to detail.
• Ability to resolve customer concerns while maintaining a professional and calm demeanor.
• Must work well unsupervised and be self-motivated
• Proficient math skills to calculate the number of materials needed
• Ability to use ION technology, such as Paycom, FieldPro, Salesforce, and smartphones
• Must possess a valid Driver's License and be willing to submit to a Motorized Vehicle Report

Education and Experience

• A high school diploma or equivalent is required
• More than 1 year of previous construction experience is required in electrical, roofing, or framing.
• Solar experience is preferred

Driving Requirements

• Must be at least 21 years old
• Must have a clean driving record as determined by a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check

Physical Requirements

• Physically able to climb, stand, walk, kneel, and crouch for extended periods of time.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
• Must use earplugs around loud equipment and wear gloves, safety glasses, and other protective gear.
