Job summary

SafePlace Olympia is seeking a Residential Services Advocate to provide confidential, survivor-centered advocacy for domestic and sexual violence survivors. The role includes crisis intervention, shelter intake, safety planning, and community resource navigation in a trauma-informed framework.

The position requires an Associate’s degree in a related field, experience with trauma survivors, and a commitment to anti-oppression practices.

Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree in social work, social services, criminal justice, or related field.
  • One year’s experience working with survivors of trauma, sexual violence, or marginalized communities.
  • Commitment to social justice and survivor-centered practices.
  • Excellent communication and emotional resilience.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

  • Provide trauma-informed, culturally responsive support to survivors of all genders.
  • Staff the 24-hour crisis line and participate in coverage for phone advocacy.
  • Conduct intakes for emergency shelter and ongoing advocacy.
  • Assist with safety planning, housing navigation, and resource referrals.
  • Maintain confidential documentation and log service hours.
  • Collaborate with staff and partners to improve trauma-informed responses.
  • Participate in supervision, team meetings, and ongoing training.
  • Provide occasional transportation using a company vehicle as needed.
