Job summary

The Mayo Clinic John E Herman Home and Treatment Center in Minnesota is seeking a Psychiatric Technician to support adults in a residential treatment program focused on functional and vocational recovery.

You will participate in group and individual therapies, assist with medication management under nurse direction, and promote safety, engagement, and therapeutic milieu for residents in a hospital-based setting.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• At least 21 years of age.
• Experience in a psychiatric hospital setting with adults and/or children.
• Completion of 12 college credits preferred.
• Basic skills in cleaning, cooking, and meal preparation.
• Demonstrated ability to work with diverse populations in stressful situations.
• Basic computer and keyboarding competence with MS Office or electronic clinic documentation.
• Ability to multi-task under stressful conditions.
• Ability to communicate, collaborate and manage relationships with interdisciplinary team while maintaining patient/family centeredness and safety.

Responsibilities

• Act as integral member of inpatient psychiatric team providing direct and indirect patient care.
• Promote involvement in the treatment program and ensure ongoing safety observation.
• Lead social activities and crafts that support milieu and therapy concepts within individualized care plans.
