Job summary

Arden Property Group Inc. seeks a Residential Property Accountant to manage the financial administration of its residential portfolio, including lease-related accounting, security deposits, accounts payable, and reporting.

You’ll collaborate with Property Management, Leasing, Maintenance, and Accounting to ensure accurate records and timely payments across multiple properties. The role emphasizes high-volume processing, reconciliation, and adherence to established procedures.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
• Three or more years of residential property management, property accounting, or comparable experience preferred.
• Experience with property accounting, resident accounting, security deposits, accounts payable, reconciliations, and financial reporting strongly preferred.
• Working knowledge of general ledger and subsidiary ledger accounting and reconciliation practices.
• Familiarity with mortgages, property taxes, insurance, and other recurring real estate financial obligations.
• Experience with Yardi Voyager strongly preferred.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, with strong working knowledge of Excel.
• Ability to understand lease provisions and translate financial terms into accurate resident accounting.
• Strong reconciliation, analytical, and problem-solving capabilities.
• Demonstrated ability to maintain accuracy while managing multiple deadlines and transaction volumes.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with Accounting, Property Management, Leasing, Maintenance, residents, vendors, lenders, and other external parties.

Responsibilities

• Review executed leases, renewals, amendments, addenda, and resident changes to confirm financial terms and resident information are accurately reflected in Yardi.
• Verify rent, deposits, fees, effective dates, concessions, and other applicable charges against supporting lease documentation.
• Coordinate with Property Management and Leasing to resolve incomplete documentation, missing approvals, or discrepancies.
• Establish and review resident accounts as part of the move-in process and ensure applicable charges and deposits are properly recorded.
• Review monthly rent postings and recurring resident charges for completeness and consistency with lease terms.
• Record approved resident account activity, including late fees, utility reimbursements, one-time charges, credits, and other adjustments.
• Research and resolve resident ledger discrepancies and coordinate necessary corrections.
• Assist with delinquency monitoring and provide accounting support for collection-related activity.
