Job summary

LHH is seeking a Senior Property Accountant to support a portfolio of luxury residential properties and development projects. This role emphasizes ownership of the accounting process within a collaborative real estate environment.

The ideal candidate will have GAAP expertise, full-cycle accounting experience, and strong Excel skills, with a focus on accurate reporting and operational efficiency.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting is required.
  • 3+ years of accounting experience, preferably in real estate or property management.
  • Strong GAAP knowledge and full-cycle accounting experience.
  • Advanced Excel and MS Office proficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare monthly financial statements (balance sheet, income statement, cash flow).
  • Manage month-end close, journal entries, and reconciliations.
  • Perform bank reconciliations and monitor cash balances.
  • Coordinate wire transfers and owner distributions.
  • Prepare monthly/quarterly reporting for stakeholders and owners.
  • Record depreciation and amortization schedules.
  • Support development accounting (draws and project reporting).
  • Review and approve accounts payable transactions.
  • Track security deposits and refunds.
  • Calculate and file sales/use tax.
  • Assist with audits and ensure accounting standards compliance.

What You’ll Do

As a Senior Property Accountant, you will play a key role in maintaining the financial health of a residential real estate portfolio by:

  • Preparing monthly financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements
  • Managing month-end close activities, journal entries, and account reconciliations
  • Performing bank reconciliations and monitoring cash balances
  • Coordinating wire transfers and owner distributions
  • Preparing monthly and quarterly reporting packages for stakeholders and property owners
  • Recording depreciation and amortization schedules
  • Supporting development accounting, including draw requests and project reporting
  • Reviewing and approving accounts payable transactions
  • Tracking security deposit activity and refunds
  • Calculating and filing sales and use tax requirements
  • Assisting with audits and ensuring compliance with accounting standards
What We’re Looking For
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting required
  • 3+ years of accounting experience, preferably within real estate, property management, or a related industry
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and full-cycle accounting processes
  • Experience preparing financial statements and performing account reconciliations
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience with property management or accounting software is a plus
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams
