Job summary

Harvest Home Inc. in Los Angeles is seeking a Residential Program Substitute to maintain a safe, supportive, overnight residential environment across Pico and Venice homes.

The sub will cover shifts when the Residential Life Coordinator or Overnight Assistant is unavailable. You will respond to emergencies, help clients during the overnight hours, log shift activities, and uphold safety standards and agency policies.

Qualifications

• Understanding of homelessness, women's health, pregnancy, parenting, trauma, mental health.
• Solution-oriented communication and collaboration with clients.
• Familiarity with harm reduction, strengths-based approach, restorative justice, motivational interviewing, and trauma-informed care.

Responsibilities

• Uphold safety standards, regulations, and policies
• Engage in crisis prevention and crisis intervention to de-escalate incidents of potential harm
• Provide support to clients as needed during the overnight shift
• Respond to emergencies during overnight shifts, including safety, maintenance, and client health needs
• Log activities at the beginning and end of shift

Position Description

Harvest Home is searching for an energetic, motivated, and reliable Residential Program Substitute to maintain a safe and supportive communal living environment among Harvest Home’s residents. The sub will be expected to provide onsite supervision and assistance with daily activities in the absence of the Residential Life Coordinator (RLC) or Overnight Assistant at either the Pico Home or the Venice Home.

Position Schedule

Overnight Assistant shifts are Monday through Sunday 11:00PM-7AM- Sleeping shift

Subs will be asked to cover the above shifts as needed for illness, bereavement, vacation, etc., across both sites

** Please note that sub shifts may be scheduled in advance or may be requested last minute.**

Primary Responsibilities of Sub Overnight Assistant

Include but are not limited to:

• Uphold safety standards, regulations, and policies
• Engage in crisis prevention and crisis intervention to de-escalate incidents of potential harm
• Provide support to clients as needed during the overnight shift
• Respond to emergencies that may arise during the overnight shift. An emergency is anything that required an immediate response and may include maintenance issues in the home (power outage, water leaks, etc.), safety and security of the home, and injury or illness od clients including labor and delivery
• Log activities at the beginning and end of shift

Qualifications, Work Experience, and Abilities

• An understanding of and sensitivity to issues concerning homelessness, women's health, pregnancy, parenting, trauma, mental health, etc.
• Communicates in a solution-oriented manner
• Understanding of agency best practices (harm reduction, strengths based perspective, restorative justice, motivational interviewing, trauma informed care)
• High self-accountability, sets and strives for high expectations for self and others
• Able to establish and cultivate respectful and appropriate relationships with clients of diverse backgrounds
• Excellent emotional and relational intelligence
• Relational skills and healthy boundaries a must
• Strong critical thinking, active listening, and problem-solving skills
• Crisis-intervention and/or de-escalation training, skills, and/or experience preferred
• Smart Phone Needed
