Job summary

Machias Savings Bank is seeking a Residential Banking Officer to join the Lending Team in the Central Market. You will guide customers through mortgage and home equity lending from application to closing, building trusted relationships with customers and community partners.

Ideal candidates bring knowledge of residential mortgage lending, strong communication skills, and a bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience. Notary preferred; NMLS registration required based on role responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Originate mortgage and home equity loans from application through closing.
• Build relationships with customers, realtors, developers, attorneys, accountants, and other community partners to develop referrals and new business opportunities.
• Identify financial needs and recommend lending, deposit, and other Bank products and services.
• Deliver exceptional customer experience while maintaining documentation and complying with lending regulations.

THE ROLE

We are looking for a Residential Banking Officer to join our Lending Team in the Central Market. In this role, you’ll help customers navigate some of their most important financial decisions by providing responsive, relationship-focused mortgage and home equity lending services. You’ll build trusted relationships with customers and community partners, identify financial solutions that meet individual needs, and support the continued growth of Machias Savings Bank.

What You Will Do

• Guide customers through the lending journey by originating mortgage and home equity loans and providing responsive, personalized service from application through closing.
• Build meaningful relationships with customers, realtors, developers, attorneys, accountants, and other community partners to develop referrals and new business opportunities.
• Connect customers with the right solutions by identifying their financial needs and recommending appropriate lending, deposit, and other Bank products and services.
• Deliver an exceptional customer experience while maintaining accurate documentation, protecting confidential information, and following lending regulations and Bank policies.
  
  
  

What You Bring

• Relationship-building and customer service skills, with the ability to develop trust and create a positive experience for customers and community partners.
• Knowledge of residential mortgage and consumer lending, including mortgage origination, documentation, qualification, collateral analysis, and regulatory requirements.
• Strong communication, business development, and attention-to-detail skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and follow through with urgency.
• A bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience; experience working with loan origination and CRM systems. NMLS registration is required based on role responsibilities, and a Notary Public commission is preferred.

PAY TRANSPARENCY

Anticipated Hiring Range: $72,000-$90,000 Annually

Actual compensation is based on experience, skills, internal equity, geographic considerations, and other job-related factors.
