Job summary

Midwest Center for Youth and Families, a UHS subsidiary, runs a 74-bed residential behavioral health facility in Valparaiso and Kouts, IN, offering a DBT program for youths aged 10–18. The Mental Health Technician is full-time (40 hours/week) with Sunday-Thursday or Tuesday-Saturday shifts.

You will help maintain a safe environment, support treatment plans, document client behaviors, assist groups, and coach DBT skills while upholding boundaries.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required; higher degrees preferred.
• Prior behavioral health/psychiatric work experience required; 10-18 years age experience preferred.
• College students pursuing behavioral health, psychology, nursing or human services are preferred.

Responsibilities

• Ensure a safe and therapeutic environment.
• Implement elements of treatment plan and identified interventions to provide quality care.
• Document and communicate client behaviors.
• Follow clinical and unit programming.
• Assist with patient groups and activities.
• Provide DBT skills coaching with patients.
• Maintain therapeutic boundaries and utilize crisis intervention techniques.
